Josephine M. Barry

Josephine M. Barry, age 99, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at the Iron River Care Center. Josephine was born on March 4, 1921 in Iron River, MI, the daughter of the late Joseph and Bernice (Chula) Yopek. She attended the Iron River Schools. Josephine married Omer Barry on December 14, 1940 in Iron River and the couple were lifelong residents of the area. They celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary in 1990, and Omer preceded her in death in July of 1993. Josephine loved gardening and enjoyed cooking. She is survived by her son, Jerome “Jay” (Kay) Barry of Iron River, MI; daughter, Cheryl (John) Bennett of Sarasota, FL; two grandchildren, Sandi (Gary) Scalcucci and Kelly (Edward) Frazier; and four great grandchildren, Ashlee, Barry, Sara, and Matthew; two great great grandchildren, Lila and Tate; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Edward and sisters, Rose, Helen, Stella, Pauline, and Bernice. Private services will be held. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River.
