Josephine V. Keliin

Josephine V. Keliin, age 92, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility. She was born on August 23, 1930, in Caspian, MI, the daughter of the late Augusto and Emma Louise (Caldelato) Bastianello. She attended the Caspian Schools. Josephine married Carl W. Keliin on October 15, 1949, at the St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian. The couple celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary in 2003, before Carl preceded her in death on August 17, 2004. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church and St. Ann’s Society. She enjoyed crocheting, traveling, spending time with family and she loved playing smear. Josephine is survived by her sons, Dale Keliin of Caspian, MI, Brian (Tammy) Keliin of Iron River, MI, and Carl (Karen) Keliin of Houston, TX; daughters, Karen (Tony) Bongi of Iron River, MI, Coletta (Bob) Bobnock, of Caspian, MI and Debbie (Ken) Zanon, of Iron River, MI; nine grandchildren and one step grandson; 16 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Angelo and Tony Bastinello, and sisters, Prina Cattani, Emma Hawk, Clara Bastianello, Erma Gasperini, and Bernice Johnson. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 6, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church with Rev. Daniel Fosu to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery.
