Joyce Patricia Boylan Age 89 Paradise, CA, formerly of Ocala, FL Died Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Oak Knoll Senior Living, Paradise, CA Born: January 10, 1923 in Iron River The daughter of the late James E. and Lillian (Altenhofen) Sarber attended the Iron River Schools, graduating from the Iron River High School in 1940. Joyce graduated from the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Detroit, MI in 1943 as a registered nurse. She spent 45 years nursing, most of it in pediatric nursing. Joyce served in the US Navy Nurse Corps in World War II and the Korean Conflict. She received an Honorable Discharge with the rank of Lieutenant Sr. Grade. She was a member of the VFW Ocala Post 4781, Queen of Peace Church in Ocala, and Choraleers NY Club. Joyce was preceded in death by her sisters, Marion Sarber, Margaret Dent, Dorothy St. Peter, and Delores Dent, brothers, William, Howard, and Robert Sarber and special sister-in-law/friend, Kay Ruff. She is survived by her husband, Joseph C. Boylan Daughter, Joanna Boylan of California Four grandchildren, Laura, Beth and Joachin Avazedo and Steven Boylan Four great grandchildren Nieces, Leslie Ramos Mary Beth Gilmore Karen Sue Ambrose Phylliss Mangone Kathleen Saylor Beth Sarber Lynn Mulvihill Nephew, Richard Sarber Special Ruff nieces and nephews, Kathy Johnson Ginger Wade Barbara Stauder Dennis Ruff Visitation: Friday, March 16, 2012 from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River Funeral Service: Friday.
