Joyce Davies

Joyce Davies, 94, was called home to God’s Kingdom of Heaven on August 5, 2024. She was born on September 15, 1929, in Stambaugh, MI, the daughter of the late William and Victoria (Holmes) Carne. Joyce married Lloyd Leslie Lundwall on January 11, 1947, in Stambaugh, MI. They had four children and were married for 11 years before Lloyd’s unexpected passing in a mining accident on December 13, 1958. She later married George Davies on September 21, 1963. They moved to Fond du Lac, WI in 1973 and returned to the area after retiring in 1993. George preceded her in death on October 22, 2004, after 41 years of marriage. Joyce was a member of the former Wesley United Methodist Church in Iron River, MI. She loved serving with the ladies of the church. She volunteered at the Iron County Medical Care Facility for several years. Joyce also loved to sew, knit, and crochet for her family—everybody had a homemade stocking for Santa to fill at Christmas time. She was a super Green Bay Packers fan and loved watching football. She was an excellent cook and baker, and her specialty was cinnamon buns and saffron buns. Joyce filled her life with love, family, and a lot of laughter. Her love for her children and grandchildren was shown deeply throughout her life. Joyce is survived by her daughter, Janet (Jim) Tilkens of White Lake, WI; sons, Lloyd (Ellen) Lundwall of Silver Cliff, WI and George (Sandy) Lundwall of Stevensville, MT; daughter-in-law, Sharon Lundwall of Fond du Lac, WI; six grandchildren, Steve Schive of Gresham, WI, Lisa (Don) Popoff of Caldwell, ID, Erik (Shawna) Lundwall of Bergland, MI, Stacey (Travis) Moore of Appleton, WI, Melissa (Willie) VanGorder of Fond du Lac, WI, and Heather (Michael) Richardson of Horicon, WI; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was also preceded in death by her son, James Lundwall on May 24, 2024, in Fond du Lac, WI and brothers, Howard Carne from Iron River, MI and Clyde Carne from Casper, WY. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 12 p.m. with Pastor Vicky Prewitt to officiate. Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery.
