Joyce V. Holm

Joyce V. Holm, age 96, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Saturday January 20, 2024, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls, MI. She was born on October 26, 1927, in Stambaugh, MI, the daughter of the late Anton and Vivian (Kataja) Kavech. She attended the Stambaugh Schools, graduating with the Class of 1945. Joyce married Lawrence N. Holm on March 9, 1946, in Iron River and the couple made their home in Stambaugh. They celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary in 1989. Lawrence preceded her in death in 1990. She was employed as a housekeeper for the hospital. Joyce was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Iron River. She enjoyed going to the casino, crocheting, embroidery, reading, baking, cooking, playing cribbage, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Joyce is survived by her daughter, Linda (Jerry Talamonti) Johnson of Iron River; grandchildren, Heather (Tim) Olson, Russell (Myra) Holm, and Tammy (Mike) Peterson; step grandson, David (Annie) Johnson; great grandchildren, Anna, Luke, Ashleigh, Mathew, and Johnathan; step great grandchildren, Rusty and Halley; goddaughter, Lori (Kataja) Nordstrom of Iron River, MI; sisters-in-law, Corrine Holm and Jane Holm; extended family and friends. Besides her parents and husband, Joyce was preceded in death by her sons, David and Lawrence “Larry” Holm; son-in-law, Daniel Johnson; and grandson-in-law, Dave Rautiola. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River.
