Julie Contardi

Julie Contardi, age 88 of Caspian, MI, died Saturday evening September 25, 2010 at the Iron River Care Center, Iron River. She was born June 8, 1922 to the late Anton and Josephine (Tadej) Shubat. She attended Stambaugh schools graduating in 1940. After attending business school she returned to the area and married the late Mario Contardi in 1942. The couple had five children and resided in the Dober Location. She was a longtime employee of the MA Hanna Mining Company. She went on to work for D&N Bank until her retirement. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Julie was known for her warm personality, her beautiful smile and her love of life. She most enjoyed spending time with her children, spoiling her grandchildren, and watching the Green Bay Packers. She will be sadly missed by all. She is survived by two sons; Richard (Dianne) Contardi of Prior Lake, MN Steven (Debbie) Contardi of Cincinnati, OH Three daughters; Margaret (Roger) Hueppchen of San Diego,CA Cathy (David) Rosene of Brooklyn Park, MN Patricia (John) Fish of Iron River, MI 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her companion; Carl Broberg. Visitation: Thursday September 30, 2010 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. A Memorial Service will follow at 7:00 p.m with her son-in-law, Pastor John Fish to officiate. Funeral Service: Friday October 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church with Rev. Norman Clisch, pastor, to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
