June A. Howell

Mrs. June A. Howell, age 86 of Long Lake, WI died Monday, July 27, 2009 at Marquette General Hospital, Marquette, MI. Born June 25, 1923 in Long Lake, Wisconsin The daughter of the late William F. and Ida B. (Roberts) Jones attended the Lincoln and Long Lake Elementary Schools and Florence High School. June married Wesley M. Howell on September 11, 1941 in Long Lake and the couple were lifelong residents of the area. They celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary in 2008. Wesley preceded her in death on June 25, 2009. She loved embroidery, her flower garden, gardening, cooking, and baking. She especially enjoyed inviting people into her home for fellowship and food, with chicken and dumplings as her specialty. Her life was her Lord and her family. Her definition of ""Joy"" was Jesus first, others second, and yourself last. She was also preceded in death by her brother Clifford Jones, and three sisters; Betty Peterson, Peggy and Billie Jones. She is survived by two sons; Wesley (Laura) Howell of Pine City, MN Daniel Howell of Florence, WI Three daughters, Bonita Howell of Appleton, WI Barbara (Dale) Welch of Marinette, WI Idalisa (James) Ritchie of Long Lake One sister, Fay (Pete) Barber of Long Lake 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren Nieces and nephews Visitation: Friday, July 31, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, August 1, 2009 from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River, MI. Funeral Services: Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Pentecostal Church, Long Lake, with Pastor Dale Welch (son-in-law) to officiate.
