June Adeline Lundberg, 88, Iron River, MI peacefully passed away at the Iron River Care Center on October 18, 2008. June, daughter of the late John and Eugenia (Freeman) Nasberg, was born in Norway, MI, on April 5, 1920. Her family settled in Alpha, MI, where she attended Alpha Porter High School. After graduating from the Dundons Business School, June was employed as a bookkeeper for Quality Hardware in Iron Mountain. On June 21, 1941, June married Robert Samuel Lundberg. While her husband served in the U.S. Army Air Force, she worked for Rural Electric in Texas where he was stationed. After the war, they built a house in Iron Mountain while Bob worked for Ford Motor Co. Bob later became employed by the Hanna Mining Company, and the family moved to Iron River in 1953. In 1957 they built a home on Sunset Lake where they raised their family and enjoyed many happy years together. June and Bob celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1991. June's love of children was evidenced by countless hours spent as a 4-H leader, a cook at the Fortune Lake Bible Camp and a teacher's aide. June also attended Northern Michigan University in Marquette, MI. She was employed by Iron County Community school in the follow through program and later was employed by West Iron County Schools as a kindergarten teacher's aide for 17 years. She was a member of the Grace Covenant Church, the Ladies Circle, the Friendship Club at the Iron River Care Center, and Sunset Circle. June was an active, happy person, full of energy and love and always ready to serve others. She enjoyed boating, swimming, sewing, knitting, gardening, biking, and cross county skiing. Most of all, she enjoyed her family. June was preceded in death by her husband Robert, a son Michael Lundberg, a brother John Nasberg, and three sisters, Dora LaCount, Eva Sandercock, and Fern Sviiland. She is survived by three other children, Sue (Terry) Menghini of Iron River, Thomas (Marcia) Lundberg of Punta Gorda, FL, and Jane (Peter) Sauro of Little Canada, MN. She also leaves behind a sister, Diane Affleck of Omaha, NE, twelve grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. June's sense of humor and loving, caring heart wil be missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be Saturday October 25, 2008 from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. at the Grace Covenant Church, Iron River. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Matthew Norlen officiating. Interment; Bates Twp. Cemetery, Iron River Pallbearers; Terry Menghini, Peter Sauro, Bob Menghini, Bryan and Derrick Lundberg and Dan Jarvi. Funeral arrangements by the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River.
