June R. Risberg

June Risberg, age 88, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Friday, May 25, 2018 at the Aspirus Iron River Hospital.  June was born June 10, 1929 in Ramsay, MI, the daughter of the late Heino and Martha (Rajala) Autio of Wakefield, MI.  She attended the schools in Watton, Bergland, and Wakefield, MI.  She married Walfred Risberg on July 8 1947 in Waukesha, WI.  The couple celebrated 53 wonderful years together before Walfred’s passing on March 29, 2001.  June was a member of the VFW Ottawa Post #3134 Ladies Auxiliary of Iron River.  She enjoyed camping, bowling, snowmobiling, spending time up at camp, and turkey hunting.  She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.  June is survived by her son, James (Candy) Risberg of Iron River, MI; grandsons, Marc Risberg of Caspian and Aaron (Amanda Tukesbrey) Risberg of Iron River; granddaughter, Season (Jim) Pelkola of Iron River; great grandchildren, Ryker Lesniak, Brodi, Kannen, and Grady Pelkola, Lexton Risberg, and Kristi (Colton) Kurtz; special friend, John Trottier; and special niece, Peggy Otto. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Eugene Autio and sisters, Doris Bomaster and Signe Greenlund. According to June’s wishes private family services will be held. Pallbearers will be Jim Wester, Aaron Risberg, Jim Dennis, Bob Konoske, Jim Pelkola, and Marc Risberg and honorary pallbearers will be Mark Ponozzo and Mike Henschel.  Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery, Iron River.
