Karen J. Jones, age 73, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Aspirus Iron River Hospital. She was born on November 16, 1945 in Rockford, OH, the daughter of the late Gerald F. and Gladys (Shaffer) Stetler. Karen married Edward Jones on November 3, 1977 in Ontonagon, MI. The couple made their home in the Iron River area and celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary in 2018. She was employed in food prep at an adult foster care facility for 19 years. Karen was a member of DAV Auxiliary, past President of the Iron County Artists Association, and a past member of Wildlife Unlimited. She was also a supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Shriners Children Hospital, and the Iron County Hockey Association. She enjoyed basket weaving, crafting, art, jewelry making, painting, sewing, baking, fishing, hunting, camping, picking berries, gardening, and canning. She also enjoyed feeding wildlife in the backyard and just being in the outdoors. Karen is survived by her husband, Edward; daughter, Tammy Dinser of Taylor, MI; son, Frank H. Kranick of New Hudson, MI; sister, Dorothy Stetler of Arcadia, FL; two grandchildren, Kristi and Jason; extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Stetler. Visitation will be held Friday, July 5, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River and on Saturday, July 6, 2019 from 10:00 to 11:00am. Funeral services to follow at 11am at Jacobs Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Waters to officiate. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford, OH. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
