Karin E. Westphal

Karin E. Westphal, age 48, of Iron River, MI, passed away Friday, May 01, 2015. She was born July 06, 1966 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of David and Sandra (Sande) Greig. She was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. Karin married Erik Westphal on September 28, 1996 in Iron River, and the couple made their home in Stambaugh Township. They celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary in 2014. She was a member of VFW Ottawa Post 3134, and the Iron River Country Club. She loved the outdoors, gardening, golfing, cooking, and her dog, Cooper. Karin also enjoyed interior decorating and loved to refurbish and repurpose furniture. She had a smile that warmed everybody. Karin is survived by her husband, Erik; her parents, David and Sandra Greig of Iron River; brothers, David (Laura) Greig and Paul (Kristi) Greig, both of Lindenhurst, IL; sister, Susan (Thomas) Fritz of Iron River; nieces and nephews, Ashley and Brittany Greig, Cassie Westphal, Lauren Westphal and Cole Westphal, Colton and Brody Greig, and Colin Fritz; extended family and friends. Private services were held Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Interment was in Resthaven Cemetery. The West Side Veterans accorded Military Rites at her gravesite.
