Katherine N. Baumgartner

Katherine N. Baumgartner, age 94, of Gaastra, MI, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, MI. Katherine was born March 2, 1922 in Crystal Falls, MI, the daughter of the late Ernest and Anna M. (Hallada) Gordon. She attended the James Schools and the Gaastra Schools, graduating from Stambaugh High School with the Class of 1940. She was employed as a Secretary for the Good Electrician Company in Milwaukee, WI for many years, retiring in 1981. Katherine married Robert L. Baumgartner on April 26, 1947 in Milwaukee, WI. The couple returned to the Iron River area in 1984. The celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary in 1990. Robert preceded her in death on August 6, 1990. Katherine was a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian and St. Ann’s Society. In addition to her husband, Robert, she was also preceded in death by her son, Russell on May 17, 1995, and sister and brother-in-law, Cecelia and John Senski. She is survived by her nephew, Gary (Mary) Thrash and two great nephews, Brandon and Tyler. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016 from 9:30 to10:45 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral Services will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. The Ladies of St. Ann’s Society will form an Honor Guard at the service. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls, MI.
