Katherine R. Dzanbazoff

Katherine Rose Dzanbazoff, age 83, formerly of Gaastra, MI, passed away Monday, March 2, 2015 at the Appleton Medical Center, Appleton, WI. She was born August 31, 1931 in Iron River, MI, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Albina (Deladio) Smith. She attended the Stambaugh Schools. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian and the American Legion Reino Post #21 Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, making quilts, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Katherine, who went by Rose, married Steven Dzanbazoff on November 4, 1950 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River. The couple made their home in Gaastra and they celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in 2009. Rose was preceded in death by Steven on December 19, 2009 and also her brother-in-law, Tom Dzanbazoff and her son-in-law, Michael Weyenberg. She is survived by daughters, Stephanie (Tom) Knorr of Neenah, WI and Denise Weyenberg of Kaukauna, WI and her son, Ben (Julie) Dzanbazoff of Southgate, MI; brothers, Harry (Betty) Smith of Gaastra and Bob (Delores) Smith of Oregon; sister, Joan Eaton of New Mexico; eight grandchildren; Carrie Dzanbazoff, Lynn (Dzanbazoff) Frye, Lindsey Weyenberg, Michael Knorr, Chrissy (Dzanbazoff) Yesh, Nicole (Weyenberg) Mattson, Ryan Dzanbazoff , Paul Dzanbazoff, 11 great grandchildren and a special friend Dean Schultz. Visitation will be held Monday, March 9, 2015 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian, with Reverend Gregory Veneklase, Pastor, to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.  The Ladies of St. Ann's Society will form an Honor Guard at the service.
