Katherine ""Kay"" E. Evans died December 13, 2008 in Marquette, Michigan. The daughter of the late Archibald and Ruth Hein, she was born October 21, 1924 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was educated in the Minneapolis schools and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics from the University of Minnesota. In 1947, she married Glenn Evans first moving to Quinnesec, Michigan and in 1951 moving to Iron River to make their home. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1997 and Glenn preceded her in death in 2002. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church in Iron River for over 50 years, contributing much of her time to volunteer and leadership positions. She also served many years as the church secretary. She cherished her friends and service to the church. She also was a Cub Scout leader, a volunteer in the West Iron school libraries and the American Heart Association. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who provided support to the many people she touched. She was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Sarah in 1986. She is survived by three sons; John (Nancy) Evans of Marquette, MI Dr. Donald (Judy) Evans of Merrill, WI James (Susanne Janecke) Evans of Logan, UT One brother, Rowland (Edna) Hein of Willington, DE Six grandchildren; Josef, Starr, Adam, Nicole, Karen and Erica Four great grandchildren Nieces and nephews Visitation: Thursday December 18, 2008 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Iron River. Funeral Service: Friday December 19, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Dawn Treado-Green to officiate.
