Katherine L. Wonsey

Katherine “Kathy” L. Wonsey, age 62, of Trout Creek, MI, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2019 at Aspirus Iron River Hospital. She was born on April 30, 1957 in Ontonagon, MI, the daughter of the late Gary A. M. and Virginia (Kugler) Cronkright.  She attended the Ewen-Trout Creek Schools, graduating with the Class of 1975. Kathy married David B. Wonsey on May 26, 1990 in Bruce Crossing, MI.  The couple celebrated 23 years together before David’s passing in 2013.    She was the owner of an adult foster care facility in Paynesville, MI.  Kathy was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Bruce Crossing, MI.  She enjoyed sucker fishing with her grandchildren, knitting, working jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  Kathy is survived by her son, John Hasenberg of Bruce Crossing, MI; daughter, Gina Nygord of Baraga, MI; brothers, Gary Cronkright of Iron River, MI and Mitchell Cronkright of Caspian; sister, Wendy (Jim) Warnke of Bruce Crossing, MI; five grandchildren, JT, Tyler, Jasmyn, Ashtyn, and Weston; one great granddaughter, Cherish Marie; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 12pm at Assembly of God Church in Trout Creek, MI with Pastor Doug Silsby to officiate.     Interment will be in Trout Creek Cemetery.
