Kathryn Stapleton

Kathryn ""Kathy"" Stapleton, 60, of Iron River, MI, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2013 at the University of Wisconsin Hospital, Madison, WI. She was born July 7, 1953 in Stambaugh, MI, the daughter of Joseph and Lucille (Dawson) Dabeck. She attended the West Iron County Schools, graduating with the Class of 1971. Kathy was employed as a social worker with the State of Michigan for 35 years. Kathy married Ronald Stapleton on June 30, 1979 in Iron River, and the couple celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary this year. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She liked flowers and enjoyed shooting pool, doing puzzles, and reading. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph. Kathy is survived by her husband, Ronald; son, Robert Stapleton of Iron River; daughters, Sharon (Jamie) Stapleton of Indianapolis, IN, and Ronni Stapleton of Iron River; mother, Lucille Dabeck of Iron River; brother, Ralph (Pat) Dabeck of Iron River; sister, Ruth (Frank) Hayden of Green Bay, WI; and eight grandchildren. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 19, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon at the Jacobs Funeral Home, with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to officiate. Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery. The family suggests memorial donations in Kathryn 's name to the American Heart Association.
