Kenneth C. Stapleton

Kenneth “Ken” C. Stapleton, age 77, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at UP Health System-Marquette. He was born on January 15, 1944, in Alvin, WI, the son of the late Wayne and Anna (Beckman) Stapleton. Ken attended the Elvoy Elementary School and the Iron River High School. Ken married Joyce S. Borske on November 30, 1963, at the First Presbyterian Church of Iron River, and the couple made their home in Kenosha, WI. After leaving Wisconsin, they moved to Iron River and then to Marquette, MI. The couple later returned to the Iron River area and made their home in Iron River Township. They would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary this year. Ken was employed at Rad’s Standard Service Station in Iron River, prior to owning and operating an Amoco gas and service station in Marquette, MI, for several years. He later worked as a diesel mechanic and truck driver for various equipment companies in the Iron River area, semi-retiring from Woodland Equipment in 2006. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Iron River. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, running the groomer for the Snowmobile Club, and spending quality time with his family, especially the grandchildren. Ken is survived by his wife, Joyce; sons, Dan Stapleton, Tim (Holly) Stapleton, both of Iron River, and Eric (Erin) Stapleton of Greenville, WI; daughters, Janet (Jamie) Applin of Galesville, WI, and Susan (Dan) Fitzpatrick of Iron River, MI; brothers, Alfred (Judy) Stapleton of Middleburg, FL, Les (Donna) Stapleton of Alvin, WI, Mark Stapleton of Alvin, WI, Terry (Jane) Stapleton of Alvin, WI, Gary Stapleton of Alvin, WI, and Curt Stapleton of Wausau, WI; sister, Diane (Norman) Borske of Iron River, MI; seven grandchildren, Delaney, Lillie, Tori, Tucker, Chloe, Brynn, and Tessa; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Stapleton. Visitation will be held Saturday, November 27, 2021, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow with Bryan Darrell to officiate.
