Larry E. Strom

Larry E. Strom, age 72, of Iron River, MI, died Wednesday, October 8, 2014, at Marquette, MI. He was born April 6, 1942 in Iron River, MI, the son of the late Einar and Dorothy (Bray) Strom. He attended the Iron River Schools, graduating from Iron River High School. Larry was an Air Traffic Controller with the U.S. Air Force for 23 years. He was a member of the American Legion Reino Post #21 and VFW Ottawa Post #3134 and served on the Honor Guard at veteran funerals for many years. He was a ham radio operator and enjoyed hunting and fishing. In his younger years he was an accomplished skier and enjoyed ski jumping. Larry is survived by three daughters, Veronique, Perla, and Pamela, sister, Marjorie (Dan) Uhl of Benton Harbor, MI, and extended family and friends. He also leaves behind his special friend, Jean Wilhelm. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Strom on February 21, 2012. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 16, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Graveside services will follow at 1 p.m. Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River.
