Laverne A Cook

LaVerne A. Cook, age 89, of Iron River, MI, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, MI. She was born August 19, 1926 in Caspian, MI, the daughter of the late August and Louise (Emer) Paul. She attended the Caspian Schools, and was a lifelong resident of the area. She was employed by Coleman Products for over ten years until her retirement in 1987. LaVerne was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall of Iron River. She enjoyed figure skating, dancing, music, crafts, and spending time with family. She was dedicated to her family and children. She also loved sharing the Bible’s message. She was and always will be “Our Sunshine.” LaVerne is survived by her son, Gregory (Elizabeth “Liz”) Cook of Caspian; daughters, Sandra (Dale) Heitman of Cape Giradeau, MO, Gwen (Robert) Richards of Iron River, and Penny (Mike) Daniels of Iron River; sister-in-law, Alice Paul ; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two great, great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Arnold Paul, and Charles (Shirley) Paul, and sisters, Veronica, Irene (Tony) Petroff, Agnes (Lyle) Frailing, and Geraldine (Lawrence) Maki. . Visitation will be held Saturday, June 18, 2016 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall of Iron River. Memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. with Darrin Kurtz to officiate.
