Laverne A. Stromberg

Laverne A. Stromberg, age 90, Iron River, MI, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at the Northstar Health System, Iron River. Born: November 12, 1919 in Chicago, IL The daughter of the late Herman and Elsie (Bretzlaff) Ballerstaedt attended the Chicago schools and then the Saleen School of Cosmetology. She later moved to the Iron River area and was employed by Coleman Products for many years. Laverne married Kenneth Stromberg on September 6, 1983 in Crystal Falls, MI and the couple made their home in Iron River. They celebrated their Silver Wedding Anniversary in 2008. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Iron River and the Senior Choir. Laverne enjoyed quilting, craft work, crocheting, singing, dancing, and especially playing Rummy. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Sons; Roger Skoglund of Fort Meyers, FL Robert (Tamara) Skoglund of Caspian, MI Ronald Skoglund of Romulus, MI Daughters; Debra (Roger) Bloom of Iron River Laurel Cooper of Citrus Heights, CA Cheryl (Chuck) Taylor of Iron River Susan (Fred) Bergstrom of Lake Villa, IL Karen (Tony) Segreti of Vernon Hills, IL Linda (Damon) Nasser of Iron River Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Carl Skoglund and sister Arlene Hoppe. Memorial services will be held Friday, December 11, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church, Iron River, with Rev. Bonny Kinnunen to officiate.
