Lena A. Moyle, age 96, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Marshfield Medical Center, Marshfield, WI. She was born on October 3, 1922 in Iron River, MI, the daughter of the late Albino Delladio and Domenica Basso. She attended the Lincoln, Central, and Iron River Schools, graduating with the Class of 1940.  After high school, she worked at the Dairy Bar in Iron River.  Lena married her high school sweetheart George “Shelley” S. Moyle on September 6, 1942 at St. Michael’s Church in Olympia, WA, where he was stationed at Fort Lewis.  In January of 1943, George left Washington for his training as a paratrooper at Fort Benning, GA.  Lena went to Columbus, GA and was employed at a department store.  After George finished training, he was sent overseas and she returned home where she was employed at the Delft Theater until he was honorably discharged.  They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in 2004, before George preceded her in death on October 20th of that year.    She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River and the Altar Society.  She loved to cook and was an avid baker of fruit cakes, saffron, and her famous chocolate cookies for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She enjoyed baking for the St. Agnes bake sales and their cake walks.  She also enjoyed playing cards, reading magazines, planting flowers, and working in the yard.   Lena is survived by her daughters, Pamela Raymond of Iron River, MI, Barbara Hudson (Fiancé Tom Kennedy) of Boise, ID, Shelley (Peter) Gow of Marquette, MI, and Christine (Terry) Phillips of Hayward, WI; eight grandchildren, Michelle Dominici, Paula (Dennis) Clark, Lara (Derek) Little, Jeremy (Mindy) Hudson, Kim (Blake) Hansen, Heather (Roger) Jahfetson, Michael (Brandy) Phillips, and Dustin (Vanessa) Phillips; 16 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, John and Dominic Basso and sisters, Mary and Jennie Basso, Irene Ciochetto, Benna Bal, Stella Michlin, and Bertha Bartzack. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 9:30 to 10:45 am at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River.  Funeral services will follow at 11am at St. Agnes Catholic Church, with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.       Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Michael and Dustin Phillips, Roger, and Kooper Jahfetson, son-in-law Terry  Phillips, and Tom Kennedy.  Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
