Leona M. Swanson Age 102 Iron River, MIDied Monday, February 28, 2011 at the Iron River Care Center. Born: December 11, 1908 in Wilson, MI The daughter of the late Jesse and Agnes (La Page) Juneau attended the Iron River Schools. Leona Married Walter Swanson on June 24, 1939 in Iron Mountain, MI and the couple made their home in Iron River. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1989 and their 66th wedding anniversary in 2005. Walter preceded her in death on August 11, 2005. Leona was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River, the Altar Society, the Rosary Sodality, the Daughters of Isabella, the Lady Elks, and the Twentieth Century Club. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, embroidery, ceramics, flower gardens, playing cards, and going to the casino. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Jesse, Erbie, Walter, and Vernon Juneau and sisters, Olivine Weber and Lilly Peterson. She is survived by her daughter, Betty (William) McLean of Iron River Granddaughter, Judith (Robert) Porier of Iron River Two step great grandsons Seven step great, great grandchildren Three step great, great, great grandchildren Very special nieces and nephews Visitation: Friday, March 4, 2011 from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. Funeral Services: Friday, March 4, 2011 at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Iron River, with Rev. Norman Clisch to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. The ladies of the Rosary Sodality will form an honor guard at the service. Interment: Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River The family suggests memorial donations to the Iron River Care Center.
