Leonard Piwarski

Leonard Piwarski, age 68, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026.

He was born on April 5, 1957, in Iron River to Arthur and Veronica (Wojner) Piwarski. Leonard attended West Iron County Schools.

Leonard married Suzie Shafer on April 12, 1990, in Crystal Falls, MI and together they made their home in Iron River, MI., where they raised their four children and “Big Daddy” helped raise “dumb ol’ Patty”. LOL

Leonard believed in hard work. He was a self-employed logger who truly loved going to work with his brothers and nephew, Jake. He was enthusiastic about taking his kids to work with him on the weekends. Leonard enjoyed hunting camp festivities with family and camping with his wife and kids. Leonard knew no strangers; he could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere, and about anything-especially at the mill or with his trucking friends. Leonard valued his close relationship that he developed with his brother Delwyn and sister-in-law Dee throughout the years.

Leonard is survived by his loving wife, Suzie; children, Patty (Donnie), Stephanie, Brittany, Jennifer (Matt), and Ryan Piwarski; grandchildren, Erin, Symon, and Sophia Willson; mother, Veronica Piwarski; siblings, Delwyn (Dee) Piwarski, Barbara (Wally) Elmer, Larry (Janet) Piwarski, Marilyn (Dave) Van Dewettering, Donna (Les) Stapleton, Steve (Martha) Piwarski, and Kristine Zemple (Dennis); sister-in-law, Kathy Piwarski; nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Leonard was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Piwarski and brothers, Ronald Piwarski and Kenneth Piwarski.

A celebration of Leonard’s life will be held at a later date.

Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River.
