Leroy E. Anderson

Leroy E. Anderson, age 88 , of Crystal Falls, MI, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017 at his home. He was born May 16, 1928 in Chicago, IL, the son of the late Charles R. and Ann (Swienty) Anderson. He attended the Iron River Schools, graduating from Iron River High School with the Class of 1946. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1970. Following his retirement, he returned to Iron County where he cared for family and was a handyman for many people. His hobby was Amateur Radio, and his call number was N8WQC. Leroy was a member of the VFW Post#7569 of Alpha, American Legion Post #87 of Crystal Falls, the Iron Range Amateur Radio Club, Guardian Angels Church of Crystal Falls, and in later years, St. Edward’s Church of Alpha where he served as usher. He is survived by his cousins and God-children. Visitation will be held Friday, January 20th from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at Guardian Angel’s Catholic Church of Crystal Falls, with Rev. Daniel Malone to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery of Crystal Falls in the spring. The East Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at the graveside service.
