Lester A. Otto

Lester A. Otto, age 84, Iron River, MI died Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at the V.A. Medical Center, Iron Mountain, MI. Born: May 15, 1923 in Iron River. The son of the late Fred and Bertha (Yackel) Otto attended the Bates schools. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. He married the former Mary Jane Seymour on May 15, 1945 at the Iron River Gospel Tabernacle and the couple made their home in Iron River, celebrating their 62nd wedding anniversary in 2007. Lester was employed by M.A. Hanna Mining Company working in the area mines for 19 years and then worked 26 years as a survey engineer/inspector for Williams Brothers Engineering, retiring in 1986. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. Lester was devoted to his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Ernestine in 1967; four brothers; Roy, Ernest, Bill, and Ervin; and one sister, June.
