Leticia R. Ponozzo, age 92, of Green Bay, WI, formerly of Iron River, MI, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017 at her home in Green Bay. She was born January 5, 1925 in Iron River, MI, the daughter of the late Cesare and Palmina (Cardinali) Vantaggi. She attended the Iron River Schools, graduating from the Iron River High School with the Class of 1943, where she was known for her beautiful singing voice. She then attended business school, graduating with her degree in bookkeeping. After returning to the area, she utilized the skills she learned to work for her father’s beer and wine distribution business in Iron River. Leticia married Ernest Ponozzo on June 14, 1947 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River, and the couple were lifelong residents of the area. Ernest preceded her in death in 1961. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River, St. Agnes Altar Society, Rosary Sodality, St. Agnes Choir, and Regent of the Daughters of Isabella. Her great love was St. Agnes Church and singing in the choir. An avid reader, she also enjoyed dancing, spending time with her grandchildren, and going out with her girlfriends. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Reno Vantaggi; sister, Irma Antoniak; brother-in-law, Marion Antoniak; sister-in-law, Zola Vantaggi, and grandson, Troy Ponozzo. Leticia is survived by her children, Rose Ann DePetro of Green Bay, WI, Gerald (Lourdes “Lori”) Ponozzo of Spokane, WA, and John (Joleen) Ponozzo of Lemoore, CA; five grandchildren, Tony (Amber), Heather (Derrik), Eric, Tyler, and Trevor; three great grandchildren, Sawyer, Kellen, and Hudson; and nephew, Terry Vantaggi. Visitation will be held Monday, May 8, 2017 from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River with Rev. Gregory Venklase to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
