Letty M. Himanka, age 93, Iron River, Michigan, died September 10, 2008 at the Iron River Care Center. She was born November 15, 1914 in Bruce Crossing, Michigan. She attended the Ewen, Michigan schools, where she graduated. Letty was married to Charles Himanka and the couple owned and operated the Dinner Bell restaurant in Iron River for nearly 30 years. Charles preceded her in death on December 5, 1982; and her two sisters, Verna Johnson and Sue Cummings. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Iron River and VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling on a league for many years. She is survived by two sons; Merle Sain of Los Angeles, California; Marvin Sain (Judy Radcliff) of Battle Creek, Michigan; three daughters; Laura Horton-Lipke (Phil) of Iron River, Rita, (Jon) McKenzie of Menasha, Wisconsin and Mavis (Ron) Silsbee of Venice, Florida; one sister, Pat Fenster of Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Iron River, with Rev. Kevin Kaiser to officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Bruce Crossing, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, offerings for the Trinity Lutheran Church will be accepted either at the services, or a donation can be mailed to: Trinity Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 636, Stambaugh, MI 49964, Attention: Himanka Offering. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Iron River Care Center for all the special love and care they gave to our mother.
