Lila E. Mattioli, 91, of Iron River, MI, passed away Friday, October 18, 2013 at Northstar Health System of Iron River. She was born September 2, 1922 in Iron River, MI, the daughter of the late John and Elina (Kinberg) Koski and stepdaughter of the late Albert Carlson. She attended the Iron River schools, graduating from Iron River High School with the Class of 1940. She later attended Bay de Noc Community College, and was employed as a LPN at Crystal Manor in Crystal Falls for 16 years prior to her retirement in 1984. Lila married Joseph Mattioli on June 28, 1941 at the First Lutheran Church of Iron River and the couple made their home in Iron River. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1991. Joseph preceded her in death on December 22, 1998. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Iron River, the Lutheran Circle, ELCW, the Quilting Bee, and the Red Hat Society. Lila loved spending time with her family, and enjoyed baking, knitting, and quilting. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Latella; brothers, Edward Koski, Toivo Koski, and Carl Carlson; sisters, Lillian Varkais and Ann Moore; and son-in-law Henry Dishaw. She is survived by three daughters, Kay (Jay) Barry of Iron River, Diane (Melvin Anderson) Dishaw of Negaunee, MI, and JoAnn (Robert) Cascioli of Oconomowoc, WI; son-in-law, Domenick Latella of Nashville, TN; eight grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; nieces, nephews, and extended family. Visitation will be held Monday, October 21, 2013 from 9:00 to 10:40 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 21, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church of Iron River with Rev. Bonny Kinnunen to officiate. Interment will be in Iron River City Cemetery.
