Lillian M. Nelson, 98, of Eugene, OR, formerly of Crystal Falls, MI, passed away Friday, June 21, 1013. She was born March 8, 1915 in Crystal Falls, MI, daughter of the late Harry and Ida (Dabb) Urban. She attended the Crystal Falls Schools, graduating from Crystal Falls High School with the Class of 1934. On July 16, 1935, Lillian married George Nelson in Crystal Falls and the couple lived throughout the country. After George 's retirement, they purchased a home on Camp Lake near Iron River, where for many years they enjoyed entertaining friends and family. She enjoyed collecting porcelain dolls, as well as painting a nd making dolls and doll clothes, crafting, basket weaving and cards. She was a member of the Methodist Church and an active member of the Eastern Star and worked at the Iron County Fair for the Eastern Star. Lillian was an excellent cook and enjoyed spending time with her family. Following her husband 's death after 67 years of marriage, she made her home at an independent retirement community in Eugene, OR, where she could be near her daughter and family. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, who passed away on May 19, 2003, brothers, Otto and James Urban, and sister, Mrs. Earl Janet Bengry. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly (Paul) Jackson of Eugene, OR; grandchildren, Jeffery (Miwha) Johnson, Kara Pattinson, MD, and Jameson Downs; great grandchildren, Alex Pattinson, Ailey Johnson, Josiah Downs, and Isabella Downs; several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Friday, July 12, 2013 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River, MI. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, with her nephew, Leonard Urban to officiate. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls, MI.
