Lloyd R. Bomaster

Lloyd R. Bomaster, age 84 of Iron River, MI, died Monday, May 10, 2010 at Northstar Health System, Iron River. Born: January 10, 1926 in Iron River, MI The son of the late Ernest and Doris (Gallup) Bomaster attended the Iron River schools, graduating from Iron River High School in 1943. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII. He was employed by the M.A. Hannah Mining Company for over 15 years, retiring in 1964. Lloyd married the former Doris Autio on May 31, 1944. Doris preceded him in death on June 23, 2000. He later married Ellen (Ruona) Casagranda on November 20, 2004 in Iron River, and the couple made their home in Iron River. He was a life member of the VFW Ottawa Post 3134 and the American Legion Alfred Branchini Post 17. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and camping. He is survived by his wife, Ellen Sons; Richard (Martha) Bomaster of Louisville, TN Brian (Cathy) Bomaster of Mooresville, IN Daughters; Sherry (George) Erickson of Merritt Island, FL Barbara (Harold) Moore of Iron River Stepdaughters; Barbara (John) Franke of Tulsa, OK Bobbi (Scott) Frisanco of Crystal Fall, MI Brothers; Jack (Ann) Bomaster of Caspian, MI Chester Bomaster of Indianapolis, IN Jay Bomaster of Albuquerque, NM Sisters: Dorothy Wilkerson of Watsonville, CA Gloria Wilkerson of Salinas, CA Rita Smedlund of California Eight grandchildren Seven great grandchildren Numerous nieces, nephews and extended family He was also preceded in death by his sister, Susan Trudell in 2006. Visitation: Wednesday, May 12, 2010 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River Funeral Service: Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 11a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River, with Brother Richard Bomaster to officiate. Pallbearers: Ray Zimmerman, Jason Moore, Nate Moore, Scott Stoychoff, James Zimmerman, and Calvin Greenlund Interment: Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River The West Side Veterans will accord military rites.
