Lloyd "Don" Johnson

Lloyd Donald Johnson, 72, of Maplewood, MN, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025, at The Shores of Lake Phalen in Maplewood, MN. He was born on August 11, 1952, in Stambaugh, MI, the son of the late Lloyd and Alice (Kantola) Johnson and was called Don. He attended the Bates Township Schools and West Iron County High School. Don was a self-employed machinist specializing in metalizing before retiring. He was a former member of the Blessed Sacrament Church. Don sustained a traumatic brain injury when he was 49, which he dealt with with courage, and spent several weeks at the Craig Hospital in Colorado. He enjoyed collecting firearms and liked watching Indy Car racing and became friends with some of the drivers. He also participated in World War 1 reenactments. Don is survived by his son, Donald (Merva) Johnson of Las Vegas, NV; daughters, Amy (Sam Bracken) Johnson-Bracken of Iron Mountain, MI and Ashley (Andrew) Rosenblatt of Indianapolis, IN; sisters, Laurel (Jan) Deloria of Bloomington, MN, Patricia (Irving) Teranishi of CA, and Margee (Jim) Brennan of Iron River, MI; seven grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Diane Stewart. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River with Fr. Daniel Fosu to officiate. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery. The family suggests memorial donations in Don’s name to the Iron River Alcoholics Anonymous. The family would like to thank Don Powell and Dr. Robert Han for all their help and support.
