Lois L. Schauwecker

Lois L. Schauwecker, 101, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Sunday March 28, 2021 at the Iron River Care Center She was born October 13, 1919 in Clay City, IN, the daughter of Guy and Elsie (Baumgartner) Moyer. Lois attended the Clay City Schools graduating with the Class of 1937. She then attended Indiana Central College, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics. Lois married her high school sweetheart Dr. Cleon Schauwecker on June 7, 1941 in Clay City, IN. The couple made their home in Greencastle, IN. They celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in 2005. Cleon preceded her in death on July 19, 2005. She was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority, the Greencastle Garden Club, and the Grace Covenant Church in Iron River. She loved sewing, gardening, reading, and traveling. Lois is survived by her sons, Randy (Nancy) Schauwecker of Iron River, MI and Dr. Don (Brenda) Schauwecker of Indianapolis, IN; three grandchildren, Angie (Doug) Williams, Kate (Austin) Collins, and Stacey (Brian) Becker; 12 great grandchildren; nephews, James and John Moyer; extended family and friends. She was also preceded in death by her brother, William Moyer. Visitation will be held on Wednesday March 31, 2021 from 3:30 pm to 5:00pm at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron River. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Greencastle, IN. The family suggest sympathy gifts be made to Revive our Hearts ministries (ReviveOurHearts.com).
