Loring O. Pelkey, age 85 of Caspian, MI, died Monday, August 30, 2010 at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center, Iron Mountain, MI. Born: June 9, 1925 in Gaastra, MI The son of the late Ourson and Lucille (Moger) Pelkey attended the Stambaugh Schools, graduating from Stambaugh High School. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII. He was employed by the Federal Government as a meat inspector prior to his retirement. Loring married the former Elizabeth Milos and the couple made their home in Caspian. Elizabeth preceded him in death. He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian, American Legion Reino Post #21, and the VFW Ottawa Post #3134. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting (especially deer and rabbit hunting), and his beagles. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter, Sonja (Robert) Malkowski of Cudahy, WI Son, Dean (Mary) Pelkey of Tomahawk, WI Loving companion and friend, Marge Hill of Iron River Two grandchildren; Angela (Scott) Borchardt Steven (Stephanie) Malkowski Two great grandsons; Hunter and Brett Borchardt Sister, Carol Visitation: Friday, September 3, 2010 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian. Memorial Service: Friday, September 3 , 2010 at 11 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian, with Rev. Norman Clisch, Pastor, to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
