Lorraine J. Groth, age 91 of Iron River, MI, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility. She was born April 20, 1926 in Iron River, MI, the daughter of the late Arthur A. and Evelyn (Melstrom) Lindahl. She attended the Iron River Schools, graduating with the Class of 1943. She then attended North Park College in Chicago, IL and Swedish Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, MN. Her career as a Registered Nurse spanned 35 years, working at Stambaugh General Hospital and the Iron County General Hospital. On August 28, 1948, Lorraine married Warren N. Groth in Beechwood, MI. The couple celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary in 2017. Lorraine was an active member of the Grace Covenant Church of Iron River. She enjoyed singing in the choir and volunteering at various Covenant Church Bible Camps. She was an entrepreneur, working with her husband Warren to run the Coffee Cup, a grocery/gas/restaurant/motel business in Beechwood, for many years. Together they developed the Golden Sands Trailer Park on Golden Lake. Warren and Lorraine worked together, making hundreds of laminated wooden bowls and selling them at local craft fairs. She was also a founding member of the Beechwood Historical Society. Lorraine is survived by her husband, Warren; sons, Lauren of Cypress, TX, Jon of Clayton, GA, and Gary (Erna) of Germantown, TN; grandsons, Derek and Kyle; sister, Lois (Lee) Belden of Colorado Springs, CO; and many relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Marlene Lindahl. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 10 am at the Grace Covenant Church with Pastor James Swanson II to officiate. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Lorraine’s name, to Grace Covenant Church at 316 Jasper Street, Iron River, MI 49935.
