Lottie Mae Christensen, 88, passed away January 11, 2014, surrounded by her family. Lottie Mae, the daughter of the late Lottie (Meehan) and Ernest Hawkins, was born March 17, 1925. She was employed as a young woman at Melstrom's Drug Store, later moved to Milwaukee where she worked to support the war effort with her sister-in-law, Mavis Christensen. She and Barney were married Feb 13, 1943, before he enlisted in the Army during WWII. They returned to Iron River at the war's end making their home on M-73. After raising her family she was employed at Coleman Products, Mertins' Cafe and established a pasty shop with her daughter. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles (Barney), her brother Eldred, infant daughter, and brother-in-law Douglas Rankin. She is survived by her children, Bonnie Puskala, Charles (Kay) Christensen, Dennis (Margaret) Christensen, Sandy (Jim) Dennis; twelve grandchildren, David (Carol) Puskala, Pamela Puskala, Bobbi Jo Domaradzki, Jeffrey (Liz) Puskala, Charles (Amy) Christensen, Chad Christensen, Carrie (Jamie) Polley, Derek Christensen, Kori (Dan) Gervae, Shaun Christensen, Jessica (Drew) Martin, Nichole (Laurie) Osterlund; 20 great grandchildren; her dear loving sister Lunette Rankin of Summerville SC; Lunette's children Cheryl, Joe, Peggy and Wally; brother-in-law Donald (Ding) Christensen; and sister-in-law Delores (Russell) Christensen. She cherished her extended network of family and friends. Lottie was a dedicated life-long member of The First Presbyterian Church in Iron River. Visitation will be held there on Saturday, January 18, 2014, from 10:00 am - noon followed by her Memorial Service.
