Luana R. King

Luana R. King, age 68, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2017 at the Aspirus Iron River Hospital. She was born on February 15, 1949 in Marinette, WI, the daughter of the late Harold and June (Cherny) Bernardy. She attended and graduated from the Iron River High School. She was employed as a secretary at Marinette Marine for 15 years. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian and St. Ann’s Society. She was dedicated to her faith, an avid reader and enjoyed volunteering and caring for the animals at the Northwoods Animal Shelter. Luana is survived by her daughter, Kellie (Pete) Lawry of Champion, MI; son, Jeffrey (Jennifer) King of Kincheloe, MI; grandchildren, Stephanie and Elizabeth King, Thad Lawry, Adora (Dustin) Kennedy, Connor (Stephanie) Lawry and Cameron Lawry; great grandchildren, Sawyer Kennedy and Mason Lawry; sisters, Lynn (Bob) Peterson of Iron River, MI and Judy Rogers of Gainesville, FL; as well as extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Thomas, Alan and Robert Bernardy. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian, MI, with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
