Lucy Ehlinger, 98, of Iron River, MI, passed away quietly on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls, MI surrounded by her family.
She was born on July 8, 1927, in Nelma, WI, daughter of the late Claud and Carrie (Thrasher) Spencer. She attended and graduated from the Iron River Schools, with the Class of 1945.
Lucy married Elzmer Ehlinger on August 18, 1951, at St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River, and the couple celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2016, before Elzmer’s passing on September 6th of that year.
She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River and St. Agnes Altar Society. She volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul for over 22 years. Her hobbies included embroidery, knitting, and quilting. She especially loved gardening and tending to her flowers.
Lucy is survived by her son, Edward (Kim) Ehlinger of Caspian, MI; two grandsons, Ryan Ehlinger and Michael (Amber) Ehlinger; five great-grandchildren, Alyx, Joey, Amryn, Alaina, and Evelyn; nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Duard, Floyd, Armond, Gayland, Todd, and Hillard Spencer and sisters, Mescal Povich, Jeston Knuth, and Rosetta McMahon, and granddaughter, Erin Gibbens.
A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Vincent De Paul in Iron River, MI.
Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Alvin, WI.
