Lucy A. Lindstrom, age 88, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at her home. Lucy was born on October 31, 1931 in Gaastra, MI, the daughter of the late William and Mabel (Gallup) Rivard. She attended the Gaastra, Caspian, and Stambaugh Schools and was a lifelong resident of the area. Lucy married Elmer “Merlin” Lindstrom on May 27, 1950 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian and the couple made their home in Stambaugh Township. They raised five daughters and sent all of their girls to college. Lucy obtained out of the home employment, to help her daughters during their college years, retiring in 1989 from Iron County Medicare Facility, after 28 years in housekeeping. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2010. Merlin preceded her in death on January 28, 2011. Lucy was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River and St. Agnes Altar Society. She enjoyed family gatherings, picnics, holidays, traveling, reading, listening to music, and watching NFL football. She was preceded in death by her brothers, James, Charles “Bud”, William “Billy”, Donald, Earl “Duke” Rivard; sisters, Ardell Geiger, Genevieve Dickson, Jane Gehloff, and Mary Louise Andler; and son-in-law, Allan Goodman. She is survived by her daughters, Celeste (Jimm) Taetsch of Green Bay, WI, Dr. Lorene Lindstrom and Patricia O’Donnell, Cindy (David) Lindstrom, all of Iron River, MI, and Lori (Jen) Lindstrom Kelton of Detroit, MI; nine grandchildren; one great grandson, Jaxon O’Donnell; nieces, nephews, and extended family. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 12, 2020 from 9:00am to 10:45am at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron River. Funeral service will follow at 11am at St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
