Mabel Emma Sundelius

Mabel Emma Sundelius, age 97 of Iron River, MI died Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at the Iron County Community Hospital, Iron River. Born: September 1, 1911 in Saunders (Scott Lake), MI The daughter of the late Joseph and Pheobe (Lanaville) Young was raised in the Scott Lake area. Mabel married John Sigurd Sundelius on December 31, 1929 and the couple were lifelong residents of the area. They celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary in 1978. Sigurd preceded her in death on October 4, 1979. Mabel had been employed by Newberry Store of Iron River and Fineman's Department Store in Stambaugh. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church of Iron River. She enjoyed baking, sewing and helping others. She was also preceded in death by her son Robert in 1987 and his wife Marilyn Sundelius in 2004; son-in-law Richard Anschutz in 1998; brothers, Frank (Dorothy) Young, William (Freda) Young, and Edward (Ann) Young; and sister, Adeline(Richard) Morgan. She is survived by her daughter, Geraldine Anschutz, Colby, KS Eight grandchildren; Jan (Allan) Kraybill, Stilwell, KS Sue Anschutz, New York City Karen (Duane) Bristow, Augusta, KS Steve (Jan) Sundelius, Oregon, WI Jim (Maggie) Sundelius, Cresson, TX John (Mary) Sundelius, Kaukauna, WI Don (Lisa) Sundelius, Porterfield, WI Carol Sundelius, Iron River Ten great grandchildren; Nolan Bristow, Derby, KS Zack and Alec Sundelius, Oregon, WI Amy Stovel, Cresson, TX Jacob and Josh Sundelius, Kaukauna, WI Rachelle, Ashley and Robert Sundelius, St. Clair, MI Matthew and Taylor Kersting, Porterfield, WI Tina Sundelius, Iron River Two great-great grandchildren Many nieces and nephews Special niece, Florence Pifke, Iron River, who provided many hours of friendship and care to Mabel Visitation: Sunday, March 1, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River.
