MacGregor K. Phillips, age 78, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, Fayetteville, NC. He was born on December 8, 1944, in South Bend, IN, the son of the late George and Helena June (Rankin) Phillips. MacGregor attended Elementary School in the Stambaugh Township School of Upper Peninsula, Michigan. He attended Middle School at the Evansville Public School in Evansville, Indiana, and graduated High School from Escola Maria Imaculata in Sao Paolo, Brazil. He went on to attend Purdue University. He was employed as an Intel Analyst in the U.S. Army for 4 years and as a Boiler Technician in the U.S. Navy for 18 years. He enjoyed reading books and computer programming. He was known to be a fiercely independent, strong-willed man, who loved and was loved by all. MacGregor is survived by his daughter, Marygrace Espinoza of Fort Knox, KY; brother, MacDonald (Ines) Phillips of Woodbridge, VA and Jeff (Michele) Phillips of Chicago, IL; nieces, Jean Marie Robinson, Ann Marie Duffy, Carolyn Ines Hall, Katherine Patricia Pruce, and Elisabeth Michele Phillips; nephews, Paul Phillips, Donald Andrew Phillips, and Joseph Knight Phillips; and extended family and friends. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Phillips. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 12 pm with Pastor DJ Rasner to officiate. The interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery. The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at the graveside.
