Marcella D. Camps, 101, of Iron River, MI, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the Iron River Care Center. She was born February 26, 1913 in Pentoga, MI, the daughter of the late Edward and Anna (Draftz) Camps. She attended the Nahma Schools and graduated. She was employed as a clerk at the Pedo Grocery Store for 17 years and then at Baker’s Grocery for six years prior to her retirement. Marcella was an active member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church where she served as secretary for 35 years, taught Sunday School, and was a member of the Ladies Aid. She was a world traveler and an avid reader. She also enjoyed gardening and visiting with friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by sisters and brothers, Violet La Rock, Wesley Camps, Lloyd Camps, Royal Camps, Evelyn St. John, Cecile Mattson, Norman Camps, Arnold Camps, Arlyne Peterson, Muriel Peterson, and Esther Johnson. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Eula Camps of Iron River, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Friday, July 25, 2014 from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Norman Greve to officiate. Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery.
