Margaret Contardi

Margaret Contardi, age 93, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at the Aspirus Iron River Hospital. She was born on May 27, 1929, in Minersville, PA, the daughter of the late Jacob and Anna (Valigursky) Bicus. Margaret married Frank Ridolphi, and he preceded her in death in 1963. She later married Mario Contardi, and he preceded her in death in 1988. She was a Ward Clerk at Iron County General Hospital/Northstar Health System for over 23 years. She was a member of the former Assumption Church and later St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River, St. Agnes Altar Society, the Lady Elks, VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 3134, and the LaFave Funeral Bowling Team. She loved to dance, especially at Losey’s Landing, and enjoyed playing cards at the Elks Lodge and American Legion. Margaret is survived by her sons, Duane (Shelley) Ridolphi of Eagle River, WI, and David (Kathy) Ridolphi of Iron River; daughters, Shirley Ridolphi of New Baltimore, MI, Carol (Richard Apostolik) Ridolphi of Summit, NJ, and Maryjane Warwashana of Plymouth, MI; 12 grandchildren, Amy, Robyn, Kevin, Liz, Shaun, Lindsay, Matt, Sarah, Darren, Ryan, Jacklyn, and Andy; 12 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friend, Dan Mosca. In addition to her parents and both husbands, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Andrew “Andy” and Franklin “Frankie” Bicus, and sisters, Mary LaFountain, Dorothy Brown, and Katherine Vucsko. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. A Liturgy of the Word service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jose Cherian to officiate. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery in spring. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.
