Margaret H. Scalcucci, age 92, of Iron River, MI, passed away Monday, April 17, 2017 at the Iron River Care Center. She was born August 27, 1924 in Iron River, MI, the daughter of the late Steve and Menca (Giovanelli) Scalcucci. She attended the Iron River Schools, graduating from Iron River High School with the Class of 1942. She worked at the former Mroz Jewelry Store prior to becoming a bank teller for the Iron River National Bank in 1954, until her retirement in 1989. After retirement, she also worked at the Happy Italians Restaurant and the Pamida Department Store. Margaret was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River, the Altar Society, the Italian Ladies Society, Daughters of Isabella, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was involved in the All School Class Reunion, and was Parade Marshal for the Rum Rebellion parade. She enjoyed gardening, card playing, solving word searches, and watching the Detroit Tigers, Green Bay Packers and Michigan State Spartans. Margaret is survived by her nephews, Fran (Eleanor) Scalcucci of Mainville, OH, Michael Scalcucci of Bradenton, FL, Steve (Carrie) Scalcucci of Batavia, IL, and Gary (Sandi) Scalcucci of Iron River; nieces, Linda (Peter) Saving of Iron River/Sarasota, FL, Denise (Dr. Kent) Towsley of Dallas, TX, and Gina (Joe) Orlich of Valparaiso, IN; sister-in-law, Ruby Scalcucci; special cousin, Gerri (Al) Silfven of Iron River; many great nephews and nieces, and great, great nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Leonard “Bob”, Amo, Roland “Rito”, and Nello Scalcucci, and sisters-in-law, Eva, Diane, Lucy, and Eleanore Scalcucci. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River, with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery at a later date
