Marguerite H. Angeli, age 98, of Iron River, MI, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, and dear friend to everyone, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at the Iron River Care Center. She was born at home on August 6, 1920 in Iron River, MI to parents, late William and Gertrude (Tackmier) LaVeau. She attended the Iron River and Stambaugh Schools and graduated from Stambaugh High School in 1939. She met the love of her life, Albert J. Angeli, in high school and they were married by a Justice of the Peace, who resided on Stambaugh Hill, on April 19, 1941. Albert and Nita Long were married with them. Albert preceded her in death on November 6, 2012, after 71 ½ years of marriage. Marguerite was a “true” homemaker and loved to cook, bake, knit, crochet, sew multiple crafts, and play games or take walks. She was a favorite of her four grandchildren, Curt, Christopher, Marcia, and Megan, who loved to spend time with her. She nurtured and cared for every person she met. She delighted in listening to their stories and was never known to say anything negative about anyone. A story she told for years was that she was a rebellious teenager and changed her name (legally) from “Margarete” to “Marguerite”—disproved when we looked at her birth certificate (Marguerite)! She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Albert; her sister, Lorraine and brother-in-law, William Aiken; grandson, Matthew Angeli, and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; nieces, and nephews. Marguerite is survived by her son, Jon (Rita) Angeli of Lancaster, WI; daughter, Pamela (Joseph) Orr formerly of Apple Valley, MN, presently of Iron River, and eventually of Arizona; grandchildren, Curt Angeli of Shawano, WI, Christopher (Melanie Cortier) Orr of Evanston, IL, Marcia (Mark) Opitz of Belmont, WI, and Megan (Tom) Szarzynski of Queen Creek, AZ; great grandchildren, Kaitlin Phillips-Grassl , Connor Angeli, Brittney Angeli, Jasper and Samuel Orr, Gavin and Victoria Opitz, and Maeve Szarzynski; a first cousin; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was a member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (WELS), the Ladies Aid and the choir at St. Mark’s and a past member of the Care Center Friendship group. Marguerite entertained children as Mrs. Claus during the Christmas Tree Galleria at the Iron County Museum. During World War II, she worked in Milwaukee while Albert was serving in the U.S. Navy. She also worked at Coleman Products and was a night attendant at the Laturi Nursing Home on US2. Her final journey was a blessing to the family and they greatly appreciate UPCAP and Annie Pestor; Arms of Angels and her caregivers, Sherri, Kathleen, and Missy; Home Health and nurses, Alan and Dan; Dr. Robert Han; and the Iron River Care Center and their staff, who loved her and provided comfort during the past week. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 17, 2019 from 11am to 12pm at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 12pm with Pastor Jason Liebenow to officiate. Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery in Iron River.
