Marianne M. Hanold

Marianne M. Hanold, age 94, of Iron River, MI, passed away on November 26, 2023, at the Iron River Care Center. She was born on March 2, 1929, the daughter of the late Chalmers and Meta (Wege) McGreaham. She attended the Stambaugh Schools, graduating with the class of 1947. Marianne married Joseph Hanold on May 6, 1949, at St. Mary’s Church in Gaastra, MI. The couple celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in 2015. Joseph preceded her in death on December 21, 2015. She was a member St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River and a former member of Blessed Sacrament of Stambaugh. She enjoyed reading and following current events. She loved visits from her family and cherished them dearly. Marianne is survived by her sons, John (Lisa) Hanold of Iron River, MI and Jody (Penny) Hanold of Crystal Falls, MI; daughter, Jane (Kelly) Gustafson of Iron River, MI; grandchildren, Erin, Kirsten, Sean, Jessica, Michael, Eric, Christina, and John; 12 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She was also preceded in death by her son, Jeff Hanold; brothers, Chalmers and Charles McGreaham; sisters, Marguerite Carlson and Maren Steele; and stepfather, Dr. Robert E. White. At her request, there will be a graveside service at Stambaugh Cemetery held in the spring. A Celebration of Life by her loved ones of a life well lived. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests donations in Marianne’s memory to one of her favorite charities, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
