Marie L. Fifield

Marie L. Fifield, age 88 of Iron River, MI, passed away at Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, surrounded by family on March 22, 2019. Marie Fifield was born on August 3rd, 1930 in Iron River. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Laura (Adasewicz) Michlin. She grew up in Iron River and attended the Iron River schools. Marie graduated from Iron River High School. She then joined the U.S. Air Force and became an LPN in 1951. Marie married Nathan Fifield Sr. on August 29, 1953, in Milwaukee, WI. The couple made their life in Racine, WI until relocating back to Iron River in 1975. The couple celebrated their Golden Anniversary in 2003. Marie was preceded in death by her husband in 2007, her brother Joseph Michlin of Milwaukee, WI, sisters Agnes Phillips of Clintonville, WI Elaine Maki of Beechwood, MI, and infant granddaughter Hope. She was survived by two sisters: Dorothy Sorenson of Franksville, WI, Marjorie Sorenson of Ladysmith, WI, four daughters: Susan (Doug) Payne of Mukwonago, WI, Beverly (Michael) Stachowicz, Val Menghini, and Barbara Fifield, all of Caspian, MI, one son: Nathan (Dawn Matthinson) Fifield Jr. of Pembine, WI. Marie leaves behind ten grandchildren: Norman (Niki) Stachowicz, Kelly (Chris) Menard, James (Amanda) Stachowicz, Jon (Angela) Menghini, Michael and Jennifer Fifield, Douglas Rodman, Kim Zebrowski, Cathi Panfil, Joshua Fifield, ten great grandchildren, one more on the way later this year, as well as many nieces and nephews. Marie was employed at FW Means Clean Towel Service from 1975 until her retirement in 1993. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church of Iron River. She was an avid crossword and jigsaw puzzle fan and enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, and camping. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 30th from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor John Fish to officiate.
