Marilyn J. Uren, age 80 , of Caspian, MI, passed away Friday, October 23, 2015 at the Iron River Care Center. Marilyn was born September 17, 1935 in Iron River, MI, the daughter of the late Juan and Lillian (Juneau) Brooks. She attended the Stambaugh Schools and graduated from Stambaugh High School with the Class of 1953. Marilyn married William Uren on April 27, 1979 at the First Presbyterian Church of Iron River and the couple made their home in Caspian. William preceded her in death. She was an active member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian, St. Ann’s Society, the Rosary Sodality, where she served as secretary, and the Third Order of Mt. Carmel. Marilyn loved children and was a babysitter in the daycare industry for many years. She was a wonderful cook and also enjoyed sewing and knitting. Marilyn especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her sons, Glenn (Lois) Heikkila of Iron River and their daughters, Nikki, Richelle, and Ashley and Eugene (Jodi) Heikkila of Iron River and their daughters, Shira and Devan; daughters, Debbie (Tom) Bucek of Crystal Falls and their sons, Christopher and Kevin and Kim Busakowski of Iron River and her daughters, Courtney and Kala; brother-in-law, Jim Gallas of Germantown, WI; eight great grandchildren; special friends, Mia Grubbs and Regan Sarafiny. She was also preceded in death by her sister, JoAnn Gallas. Visitation will be Thursday, October 29, 2015 from 9:00 to 10:30 .m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron River. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. The Ladies of the Rosary Sodality will form an Honor Guard at the service. Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery, Iron River. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Carmelite Ministry in Iron Mountain, MI.
