Marion R. Dobson, age 90, of Iron River, MI, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls. She was born March 8, 1927 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of the late William Lester and Ingaborg (Olson) Uren. She attended the Iron River Schools, graduating with the Class of 1945, and was a lifelong resident of the area. Marion married Douglas Hanmer in 1945 and the couple had three children, Michael, Fredrick, and Ellen. In 1959, she married Jack Dobson, and they had two children, John Robert and Arnold Edward. Throughout the years, Marion worked as a waitress, painted, ironed and cleaned for local families, and served as a home health care worker. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Iron River. She enjoyed reading and playing cards. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack; two sons, John Robert and Fredrick; a brother, William Uren; sister, Adeline Borske; sister-in-law, Pat Uren; son-in-law, Robert Harris; and granddaughter, Rachelle Kepperling. Marion is survived by her children, Michael (Sue) Hanmer of Iron River, Ellen Harris of Iron River, Jacqueline (Don) Bomaster of Gaastra, MI, and Arnold (Marsha) Dobson of Round Rock, TX; sister, Audrey Ridolphi of Iron River; brother, Myron (Joyce) Uren of Schofield, WI; grandchildren, Jody (Eugene) Heikkila and Michael Hanmer II; great grandchildren, Shira and Devan Heikkila, and Michael Hanmer III. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dawn Robbins to officiate. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
