Marion M. Hanson

Marion M. Hanson, age 90, of Iron River, MI, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at the Iron River Care Center. She was born May 24, 1926 in Stambaugh, Michigan, the daughter of the late Thomas and Lillian (Lalone) Richards. She attended the Iron River High School. Marion married Robert Hanson on September 20, 1945. The couple celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary in 1999. Robert preceded her in death in 1999. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, VFW Auxiliary, Ladies Elk and the 20th Century. She was an avid reader and enjoyed cross country skiing, swimming, sewing, crocheting and volunteering at the library, auxiliary, and Iron County Blood Drive. Marion is survived by her son, Robert (Mickie) Hanson of Rhinelander, WI; daughters, Linda Hanson of Iron River, and Patti Leeman of Newark, DE; sisters, Patricia Phiffer of Neenah, WI, and Clovis Capadagli of Iron River; grandchildren, Tammy Koponen, Derek Koponen, Jennifer Delebreaux, Chrissy Nasser, Tristin Nasser, Robin Anderson, Jackie Gloyd, Jaymon Anderson, Michael Kholer Hanson and nine great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her son, Tommy; daughter, Ruth Cairns; brothers, Thomas, Eddie, Daniel, Kenneth and Jack; sisters, Lorraine Raymaker and June Ratner. Visitation will be held Monday, December 19, 2016 from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. in the Luther Room at the First Lutheran Church of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church with Rev. Michael Laakko to officiate. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery, in the spring.
