Marion H. Horne

Marion H. Horne, age 95, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the Iron River Care Center.     She was born on March 28, 1924 in Muskegon, MI, the daughter of the late Samuel and Rose (LaRoux) Peterson.   Marion married Omar D. Horne in 1941 in Iron River and they celebrated their 59th anniversary in 2000. Omar preceded her in death in 2000. Marion was a member of the Episcopal Church in Raton, New Mexico, the 20th Century Club, and the Bates Homemakers Club. She was a fabulous cook and baker, an accomplished seamstress and quilter, and taught quilting in Raton, NM for many years. She loved traveling and also enjoyed oil painting, knitting, and crocheting. Marion is survived by her daughters, Llona Van Horn of Freedom, WI, Diana (Ed) Marcell of Iron River, and Claudia (August) Menghini of Green Bay, WI; 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren and 12 great, great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Geraldine “Geri” Rhino of Caspian, MI. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Elwood Peterson and sisters, Virginia Horne and Jeanette Downey. Private family services will be held.
